On being denied permission to offer group namaz in Masjid on alvida jumma, residents of Narayanpur Village, Pindajora attacked police and vandalized the PCR van. PCR Van driver and other policemen suffered injuries and PCR van was also damaged. On hearing about the incident, Bokaro SP Chandan Jha ordered for additional forces to reach the spot along with 2 vraj vehicles and a water cannon vehicle. Several high-rank police officers and administrators rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd and brought the situation under control.
Around 12:15 pm, more than 100 people had started gathering in the Masjid in Narayanpur to offer collective namaz. When the PCR van from Pindajora police station reached and asked residents to not break lockdown rules, some anti-social elements and youth got violent and attached the PCR van. The PCR van was severely damaged with windshield broken. On hearing about the incident, City DSP and Chas SDO reached the spot. The residents were in their houses by now but the women of the village started abusing and protesting against the policemen. After several rounds of talks, the situation was brought under control.
Police had ordered people to leave the masjid one by one but they started running away leaving behind more than 50 pair of footwear. This itself is proof that huge crowd had gathered for the Namaz which is a violation of lockdown rules. Police also searched the Masjid and found some old men there who have been advised to go to their homes. Police have started investigations to identify those who attacked the PCR van and started the process to take action against them. FIR will be registered against them.
Police also held meetings with the elderly people of the village and asked them to make everyone understand to maintain law and order situation in the area.
