Taking account of the increasing number of coronavirus cases, SAIL management has banned the operations for general diseases at Bokaro General Hospital till May 31. Major operation service will continue round the clock. After this decision from SAIL management, patients who were waiting for the operation for general diseases have now started to look for private hospitals. Most of them are patients who are non-BSL workers. The SAIL workers and their dependent kin are treated free of cost at BGH. But the treatment of the private patient is done only after payment of a fee.

Meanwhile, vigilance has been increased with the arrival of five new corona patients in BGH late on Thursday night. Patients coming to BGH for general medicine and check-up in the hospital have been advised to go to the health centre to avoid further infections. There are more than eight health centres in various sectors of Bokaro Steel City.

The operations for major diseases/injuries like bullet injury, head injury, brain haemorrhage, pacemaker, major delivery, etc., will continue to be done at BGH. In cases where the patient does not suffer from fatal diseases, the dates for operation has been extended. Only 40 samples are being collected daily for routine blood tests. The facility for vaccination of new-born babies is now being done by providing tokens. Instructions have been given to issue only 50 tokens per day.
