65-year-old Akbar Ali, a retired Bokaro Steel Plant worker, was killed in an accident on Saturday morning. The accident occurred when the scooty of Akbar Ali was hit by a trailer near Ukrid More on the highway in Sector 12 police station area of Bokaro Steel City. Akbar Ali, an Islamampur resident in Balidih police station area, was on his way to home in Balidih on his scooty with number JH-09 AQ-1771. The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday on the Bokaro-Ramgarh Highway. He died on the spot. The trailer which hit is scooter was successful in fleeing though.
Agitated by the accident, people jammed the highway for some time. The people briefed the Sector 12 Police Station SHO about the accident and urged him to seize the trailer. Sector 12 Police Station Incharge Ujwal Kumar Saha ordered all police stations from Marfari to Balidih to seize the fleeing trailer. In addition to the two police stations, the trailer driver was able to escape from the toll plaza as well before police could block all roads.
On the complaint of the deceased’s relative Feroz Alam, the police have lodged an FIR against the unidentified driver. The SHO assured the people on the spot of lawful action and removed the people who were jamming the road.
