Seven people were injured and a retired inspector died in a number of road accidents at different places in Bokaro on Saturday. All the injured are being treated in different hospitals.
Retired Daroga Ramakrishna Bihari Prasad died in a road accident near the police kendra in the city’s Sector 12 police station area. 82-year-old Ramakrishna Bihari Prasad rode his bike to withdraw money from the ATM located opposite Zap. After withdrawing money, he was returning to his house at plot number 715 of Bari Co-operative Colony on his bike number JH 09P-3760. The driver of truck number JH 09 J-6021 hit the bike head on near the turn at the police lines. The bike pierced into the middle of the truck and Prasad was badly injured. He was rushed to BGH for treatment where doctors declared him dead. An FIR has been lodged against the driver of the police truck on the complaint of his son Sanjay Kumar. The truck driver fled the vehicle after the accident. Ramakrishna Bihari Prasad had served duty in several police stations of the district including Marafari.
Three people were seriously injured in a road accident at Lehri side located at Tand Mohanpur in Jaridih police station area around 8 pm on Saturday. With the help of local people, all the injured were taken to the referral hospital for treatment where after first aid, the doctors referred all three injured to Sadar Hospital. According to information received, Rasik Manjhi and Ahankaar Karmakar were driving Hero Honda deluxe JH 09H6714 at a very fast speed from Baimaro to Jainamod, , and hit Suriya resident Suraj Lehri, who was walking on the roadside. All three people were seriously injured in the accident. The villagers informed that Suraj Lehri had come to his in-law’s house in Jainamod a few days ago. On receiving the information, Jaridih police reached the spot and took the vehicle to the police station.
Four people were injured in a head on collision of a scooty and bike on National Highway 23 near Chargi village in the Petarwar police station area. The incident occurred at half past six in the evening. According to eyewitnesses, Rajkumar Nayak and Sikandar Nayak of Bermo Gandhinagar were returning from their in-laws house in Ramgarh. While Sonu Rajak, resident of Kamta village in Gola police station area, was going to her house with her friend Dhanbad Sudamdih resident Ashok Kumar. The two vehicles collided near Charagi village in which all four were injured. Sonu Rajak suffered a broken leg while Ashok Kumar also has severe injuries in his leg. After first aid at Petarwar CHC, they were referred to Sadar Hospital Bokaro.
